After a long summer hiatus, the wine tasting event is back, this Saturday from 5-8pm. The wine tasting event is a great opportunity to try out a range of different styles and as pretty much all of these are new to us as well, we value the feedback and will select the top couple favorites to be available for a few months. Here are the six whites and six reds that will be available:
These were hand-picked by the amazing wine connoisseur Tara Cardenas from Paustis Wines, knowing just about everything on the +500 different brands in rotation. The price is $15 for a sample of each, with specials of course on anything remaining after the event, here and gone as they say, and some snacks/food will also be provided to compliment the tasting.
Also, sometimes we get asked, "Why have a wine event if you're a brewery?", from which the answer is many. For one, people keep asking for it, if there were a winery or three in the area, of course not but in the meantime it's a great way to try something different without committing to a full glass let alone a full bottle. Second, it can help us decide which are keepers, our wine selection has evolved directly from these wine tastings. And third, the more I learn about the beer making process, the more I'm curious about other fermentation styles, and wines have no shortage of different complexities and nuances to learn from. Such as for any fans of Lambic beers, the champagne of beers, a process that ends up being a hybrid between a beer and a wine, hence a reason for lambics usually being stored in corked bottles and taking a year to be properly conditioned and carbonated.
Should be an exciting tasting, I can't wait myself, see you this Saturday!
The Whacky Loony
Wine Tasting Tonight
Starting at 4pm, Loony's Brew is having a wine tasting event where for $10 you can sample over a dozen different wines, have complimentary cheese/salami/crackers including some of our new goat cheese, and party it up afterwards with open mic and karaoke.
Along with the wine tasting event will be a silent auction, featuring work by Kat Ruelle as well as a couple surprises.
The weekly events haven't changed too much yet, usually only takes a month or two for something to happen (Ladies night being the next on deck, which day is still tbd, depending on voting), they remain:
See you tonight at 4pm!
What could go wrong?
Here's a heads up for a new monthly event we'll be starting the beginning of the new year, a painting/artwork auction coupled with the wine tasting event, held on the first Saturday of every month.
I don't think it was the wine talking but after the idea was proposed, it seemed like one of those ideas that you wish you'd thought of long time ago, some of the benefits include:
Will it work out? We have no idea, I'm sure they'll be a few tweaks going through the first time, if anyone knows more about how to properly do something like this or how the event could be tweaked, feel free to let us know or come down, can have a pint and discuss.
Cheers and being Drunken Artists Day, the pub is open...
Wines and tunes, hanging out with the loons!
This is now a monthly event to introduce and try out new wines, held on the first Saturday of every month. While we may try to do a certain theme for this or that month, in general we'll be making available most if not all the wines available for tasting. The details are it's from 4-8pm, is $10, and includes complimentary cheese/salami/cracker offerings.
Following the wine tasting, E-Sharp Harp Blues Band will be rocking the stage through the evening, always a treat.
A day to celebrate the creative side of our humanity, otherwise known as the right side of the brain. Since it can be a big, scary thing doing anything different or new (which usually are completely valid reasons not to be trifled with), most artists don't mind a little courage to help kick start the process, jump in and see what happens.
Come down and check it out, open at 4pm.
Great way to kick off the weekend, every Friday all growlers & and refills are 50% off!
