That's right, the amazing, insanely great Ambush Band will be gracing the stage starting ~7pm, just about the time as the wine tasting event is wrapping up.
This is a treat you don't want to miss, the planets/stars are aligning, and the combination of wine tasting pre-party, outstanding craft beer along for the ride, and tear the roof down live music in the relative dead of winter, what could go wrong, the spirits are let loose.
Don't forget it's now Growler Friday, 50% off all growlers and refills through 10pm. Come down tomorrow for some wine tasting and listen/dance with the Ambush Band vibe through the evening.
The Big Ear Loony
After a long summer hiatus, the wine tasting event is back, this Saturday from 5-8pm. The wine tasting event is a great opportunity to try out a range of different styles and as pretty much all of these are new to us as well, we value the feedback and will select the top couple favorites to be available for a few months. Here are the six whites and six reds that will be available:
These were hand-picked by the amazing wine connoisseur Tara Cardenas from Paustis Wines, knowing just about everything on the +500 different brands in rotation. The price is $15 for a sample of each, with specials of course on anything remaining after the event, here and gone as they say, and some snacks/food will also be provided to compliment the tasting.
Also, sometimes we get asked, "Why have a wine event if you're a brewery?", from which the answer is many. For one, people keep asking for it, if there were a winery or three in the area, of course not but in the meantime it's a great way to try something different without committing to a full glass let alone a full bottle. Second, it can help us decide which are keepers, our wine selection has evolved directly from these wine tastings. And third, the more I learn about the beer making process, the more I'm curious about other fermentation styles, and wines have no shortage of different complexities and nuances to learn from. Such as for any fans of Lambic beers, the champagne of beers, a process that ends up being a hybrid between a beer and a wine, hence a reason for lambics usually being stored in corked bottles and taking a year to be properly conditioned and carbonated.
Should be an exciting tasting, I can't wait myself, see you this Saturday!
The Whacky Loony
Yup, it's the first Wednesday of the month today, and that means a combination of a home brewing meeting at Loony's Brew and if hungry, Blackened Chicken from the Rainy Lake Grill down the street.
Home Brewing Meeting
For anyone home brewers out there looking to connect and socialize with other home brewers over a beer or two, come down to Loony's Brew this evening, officially going from 6-8pm. What to talk about? Personally I'd love to have a discussion with anyone about Gruit beers, the ones not using hops, using different combinations, what works, what doesn't, and go from there. Besides that, I'm open for a discussion about any type of brewing, depending of course on who shows up and what they're interested in.
Yeah, even though the main Saturday party is over, the true Halloween is still a day away.
If in the proper spirits, come on down for a continued Halloween themed event on Tuesday night.
As Elton once said, Saturday, Saturday... Yeah, while the official Halloween or Samhain day isn't until Tuesday (we'll do something then too), about a billion trillion songs have declared any real party happens on Saturday, who are we to say different.
Halloween Party & Contest
The once a year chance where everyone can pretend to be someone else at the same time, live or dead no matter. At 10pm we'll have a contest where the top three most insane or well done costumes will get a prize, these being:
See you this Saturday!
This Saturday we get a real treat with Lucky Dogs from Big Falls will be gracing the stage, starting at 8pm. As this is the first time they've played here, we're excited for the opportunity and should be a great time.
See you this Saturday!
If combined, it could be a pint crawl in zombie park? Maybe, probably not... Check out the details of both events below, with Pints for the Park on Thursday and the Zombie Crawl on Saturday.
Pints for the Park
While I've never attended one of these before, we're honored that it's at Loony's Brew this year and hope everyone can make it out, have a good time, and help raise funds for the VNPA in the process.
While the event is free, please register beforehand. Loony's Brew will be also be donating a percentage of the event proceeds to the Voyageurs National Park Association.
The 2017 Zombie Community Pub Crawl Reload
Following the Pints for the Park on Thursday, on Saturday Loony's Brew will be participating in the 2017 Zombie Crawl, with the zombies officially moving through from 5:30-6:30pm, but can come earlier if space is needed to put on your proper zombie ware.
Different prizes will be given out at each location for the best dressed, but to qualify you need to register by getting a wristband for $2 at the Rainy Lake Grill, from which proceeds will be donated to community based Cards for Cancer.
Enjoy the rest of the week and hope to see you this weekend!
Great way to kick off the weekend, every Friday all growlers & and refills are 50% off!
