Winter Solstice Bonfire
Otherwise known as midwinter, the extreme of winter, the shortest day of the year, or the longest night, Yalda night, Yule, often interpreted as a recognition of rebirth, the winter solstice has long been recognized as a special moment in time, evidenced by Stonehenge (England) and Newgrange (Ireland) to name a few. The last feasting festival before the brutal months of winter took hold, with a the summers worth of beer and wine finally having been fermented and ready for drinking. The bonfire will be held across the street from the Ranier Post Office and will be starting shortly after dark. Thanks to Mary Ann from WoodsPort Cottages for organizing the bonfire and there will be a few complimentary growlers being passed around for anyone thirsty. Thirsty Thursdays Following the bonfire, you can stroll over to Loony's Brew for Thirsty Thursdays, where you can get a pint for $1, a liter for $2, and a pitcher for $3! Cheers, The Celebration Loony
